Around 1,500 UK businesses are on a list which showcases the world’s 5,000 happiest workplaces.

The list is based on responses to WorkL’s ‘Happy at Work’ test which has been taken by over a million employees.

The anonymous test looks at various areas that impact work life, including wellbeing, job satisfaction, reward and recognition, information sharing, empowerment and instilling pride. Organisations scoring 70 and over are included in the list.

Among those on the list are Standard Bank in South Africa, Disney in the US, Atlassian in the UK, Sheraton Athlone Hotel in Ireland, DIOR in France and ING Bank in Poland.

The UK SMEs on the list include advertising platform VIOOH, wealth management company Tribe Impact Capital, care home operator Spellman Care and Perth-based 7 Hospitality Management.

Lord Mark Price, founder of WorkL, said:

“I’m delighted to publish the World’s Happiest Workplaces 2026 list today. Organisations who are recognised report higher productivity, lower staff turnover and lower sick leave as a result of employees being happier.

“Our research shows that nearly 50% of people are unhappy, anxious or depressed at work. It’s our mission to make the world’s workplaces happier, and it starts with acknowledging the ones who are doing a good job.”

WorkL has also launched its Work Happiness Charter, a manifesto that aims to make happiness at work a universal right.
