The global programme, a platform for social innovators, champions social entrepreneurs driving positive change in their corner of the world. UK’s first Red Bull Amaphiko Academy programme’s applications were launched on Thursday 11th April and will run until 31st May 2019.
Amaphiko, [pronounced Ama-pi-coh], which means ‘wings’ in Zulu, has supported, developed and championed over 120 talented, emerging social entrepreneurs through its programmes.
Now landing in Bradford, those seeking to make a positive impact in their community will be selected to join an 8-day intensive programme from 28th – 6th October 2019. Anyone in the UK is welcome to apply.
In the UK, 20 social entrepreneurs will be brought together for an 8-day academy in Bradford with hosts including June Sarpong MBE (Broadcaster, Presenter and Author of “Diversify”), Natalie Stewart (The Floacist & Founder of FLO Vortex), Charlie Dark (Founder of Run Dem Crew, DJ, poet and community mentor), Sade Brown (Founder of social enterprise Sour Lemons) and Shazia Hossen (Founder of Strong Habibiti Athletics, personal trainer and female empowerment advocate).
Following the 8-day programme, each applicant will be partnered with a mentor to develop a business and personal strategic development plan, while receiving support for the next 18 months to level up their social project.
Kameron Rashid, Founder of The Socially Conscious Company & Amaphiko facilitator said, “I’m excited to be joining the first ever Red Bull Amaphiko Academy here in the UK, which will take place in Bradford, a young and diverse city with an exciting social enterprise scene and a strong community focus.
The Academy welcomes applications from all young people in the UK who aim to make a difference in their local community. For many social entrepreneurs who realise their idea could make a significant change to their world, this is an opportunity for them to get their projects to the next level.”
