Don’t wait for a sales channel to dry up
At a recent workshop in Bristol I was was asked the following question: “One of my key channels to market has dried up – it’s the internet. What should I do?”
Answer from me: “Get off your backside, get in your car and go and visit your current and past customers and find out what’s going on!”
I felt like I was stating the blindingly obvious but the questioner seemed grateful for the answer. I guess that sometimes we can’t see the wood for the trees and we get blinded by science.
If you get out and talk to customers you can find out what’s going on for them. They can explain why their buying patterns have changed… how they see the market… what’s wrong with your business.
In fact, don’t wait for a sales channel to dry up before you get out there and get talking, otherwise it may be too late.
