Apple's CEO Steve Jobs will make his annual keynote at the Macworld 2008 expo in San Francisco on Tuesday, during which he will reveal the firm's latest product launches. The content of his speech is the subject of widespread speculation. Among the hot new launches is expected to be an ultra-thin laptop, referred to as the Macbook Air, that uses flash storage instead of a hard drive. Flash storage - or "solid state drive" - is widely expected to become the industry norm and is considered more reliable and power efficient than traditional storage solutions. Apple is also thought to be ready to offer movie rentals on its popular iPhone. Apple, which traditionally has its roots in the small business and consumer sector, is trying hard to increase its share of the wider corporate computing market. The newly launched Vista operating system of Apple's competitor Microsoft has seen a slower than anticipated uptake among consumer and corporate users, as buyers postponed purchases until alleged security and performance bugs in the system were expected to be sorted out later this year.
