Tell me about your company

The idea was born in summer 2007: working in the music industry I believed the food on offer at music festivals did not live up to the quality of the music. Living on Borough Market with access to some of the finest food producers in the country, I came up with the idea to take the best of London’s small, independent food producers on the road. After our first summer of events we quickly realised the demand for high quality, locally sourced produce. The search began to find the first permanent site to bring the concept of a farmers’ market to the convenience sector. We opened Sourced Market in St Pancras International in August 2009 and now serve over 12,000 happy commuters and tourists each week. In 2014 we achieved £2.8M in revenue and sales are currently 14% higher than the same period last year.

Could you tell me a bit about your product/services range?

Sourced Market blends the high quality produce, atmosphere and shopping experience of a great market with the practicality of a convenience store, combining retail with artisan coffee, bakery,

food-to-go and casual dining. All under one roof. We carefully source our produce from over 100 of the best of Britain’s artisan producers.

What is your vision for the future? Are you looking to expand?

We have spent five years refining our blueprint, raising investment and building the right team and now we are ready to expand. The next two sites will open in 2016 and both are in amazing locations in Marylebone and Victoria. We are then in discussions about sites for 2017 and beyond which will see Sourced Market with anchors in a number of key locations across London. At some point during this we will reassess the situation and start to plan further ahead but for now our plan is steady, organic growth and making sure we get it right before we move too fast.
