GB Energy Supply is a new company that aims to cut energy costs for its customers by running a highly efficient business and keeping our own costs low. SME caught up with MD Luke Watson to find out more…
What have been your biggest challenges?
Building an energy company from scratch was never going to be easy and it’s proven to be a steep learning curve, however by employing the right people, we’ve been able to build a successful business which has quickly become a true challenger in the market.
What have been your greatest successes?
We were all immensely proud of our first year figures; we exceeded our goals and have passed all expectations of where we thought the business would be after its first 12 months. We’re confident that with a lot of hard work the next 12 months will be equally – if not more - impressive.
What are your top tips for SMEs?
If you’re entering an established industry like we did, start with a blank sheet of paper and don’t concern yourself with sticking with the status quo. Find your niche and innovate wherever you can. Don’t be scared to be bold with your plans, just make sure you have the strategy to support them.
Don’t be naïve enough to think you know everything – you don’t! Surround yourself with good people and delegate – trying to involve yourself in every part of the day-to-day operation of your business will just slow your business down. Hire the right people and trust them to do the job you hired them to do.
