The extreme weather much of the country has seen has caused an online shopping ‘frenzy’, with sales 310% higher than the leading online discount site’s average Monday sales, making today the busiest day online since the launch of the site two years ago, excluding Christmas.

With schools closed and many employees unable to make their way into work due to the weather conditions, MyVoucherCodes.co.uk has seen a huge rise in sales of holidays and electronic items in particular.

Mark Pearson, Managing Director and founder of the site had the following to say,

“Despite the fact that transport around the country has ground to a standstill, online shopping has snowballed, with today proving to be the biggest day MyVoucherCodes has seen since Christmas when we enjoyed over 30 sales every minute.

“I attribute the record to the heaviest snowfall in 18 years, meaning that people are stuck in at home, as well as the fact that today is ‘National Sickie Day’ the day when more people will call in ill than any other day of the year. Online shopping has benefitted because it can in no way be affected by the adverse weather conditions.”
