Round-up - Tata hope and Uber fine

According to the BBC a deal to save Tata Steel’s Scunthorpe plant is expected to be sealed on Monday. It is understood that the steelworks will be sold to financial group Greybull Capital in a £400million investment package. It would secure around 4,800 jobs.

Taxi group Uber is to pay £7million to settle a dispute over driver background checks. Prosecutors in Los Angeles and San Francisco said Uber had misled its customers over claims that it was the “gold standard” for safety. Uber uses a criminal database to check its drivers compared with other cab firms which use fingerprint checks. Uber said settling was not any admission of wrongdoing.
