Round Up - Pret, Saga, Meggitt, Beer

High street eaterie Pret has posted a tasty 13.9% annual sales hike to £676.2million. It said sales of vegetarian products, particularly avocados, were in double digit growth fuelling plans to open a vegetarian only pop-up store in London this June. Sales in the US were also strong up 13.8%.

Over 50s group Saga has reported a 54.8% leap in annual profits to £176.2million boosted by a 9.9% increase in tour operator passengers to 2.66million. It also recorded an 8.5% increase in insurance policies.

Engineering group Meggitt has recorded a 1% growth in revenue in the first quarter. Civil aerospace revenue soared 6% with military revenue up 1%. However, its energy division slumped 15%.

Drinks giant Anheuser-Busch InBev has accepted the binding offer from Japanese brewer Asahi to buy SAB Miller’s European beer brands Peroni, Grolsch and Meantime for £2billion. It remains conditional on AB’s takeover of SAB Miller for £71billion.
