Round Up - EasyJet, Holiday Inn, Car sales.

Budget flyer EasyJet has recorded a 6.1% increase in passenger numbers to 6.3million in April. For the last 12 months there has been a 7.4% rise to 71.1million people.

InterContinental Hotels Group, owner of the Holiday Inn brand, has seen revenues per available room checking out 1.5% higher in the first quarter. Mainland China was the star performer with revenues up 6% whilst the UK was flat. Richard Solomons, chief executive, said: “We have made a good start to the year against the background of weak oil markets and the earlier timing of Easter which affected several of our markets.”

New car registrations rose 2% in April to 189,505 units marking the best April performance since 2003. The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders said demand for alternative fuel vehicles was particularly strong up 26.8% as drivers looked to reduce emissions and running costs.
