Dr Normal Apsley, CEO of Northern Ireland Science Park talks about the Science Park and how it all started…
In the many years since the Science Park opened, it has not only met, but surpassed its targets. It is now well established at the centre of an innovation ecosystem which joins together the latest academic research and innovation, with a wider network of partners, advisors, mentors and the brightest innovators and entrepreneurs across Ireland and the world.
Important local collaborations with Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast and the Agri Food & Biosciences Institute (AFBI) are delivering strong and flourishing spin-outs.
Putting £80 million gross salaries into the local economy, the Science Park is fast becoming the centre of Northern Ireland’s knowledge economy (and now one of the fastest growing knowledge economies in the UK). Outside of Northern Ireland, the Science Park has been recognised as one of the two most complete Science Parks across Europe.
