Forum hosted to boost trading ties between UK and Pakistan

Lord Maude, UK Minister for Trade and Investment and Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab recently hosted a trade and investment forum in London.

The UK-Pakistan Energy and Infrastructure Forum brought together key political and business decision makers to discuss high value investment and export opportunities between the UK and Pakistan.

More than150 businesses from the UK, Pakistan and China gathered at the event to discuss growing trade, investment and collaboration between the three countries. The event focused on the energy and infrastructure sectors, where the UK and Pakistan have already established strong partnerships, and explored opportunities to secure investment and contracts in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Lord Maude said: “More than 100 British businesses currently operate in Pakistan whose growing economy is a key target market for the Government’s commitment to increase British exports. The Government recently launch a Prosperity Fund of £1.3 billion over the next five years to promote the economic reform and development needed for growth in partner countries, including Pakistan.”
